Who We Are

Mashal Development Organization (MDO), established on April 4, 2012, is an independent, non-governmental, and non-profit organization based in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. Founded by a group of committed professionals from diverse backgrounds, MDO addresses social and developmental challenges through community-driven and sustainable solutions.

Our Thematic Focus Areas

MDO focuses on key thematic areas including WASH (Water, Sanitation & Hygiene), Climate Change, Human Well-being, and Gender Equality. The organization is also actively engaged in youth development, capacity building, health, education, research, environment, and social and economic advancement.

Youth & Women Empowerment

MDO promotes youth professionalism and women empowerment by creating opportunities, encouraging participation, and developing result-oriented programs that uplift vulnerable and marginalized groups.

Community Capacity Building

MDO strives to build local capacities and strengthen inclusive development by supporting communities—especially youth and women—through skill-building, awareness, and engagement. The organization emphasizes professionalism, research, and innovation to nurture capable change-makers.

Strategic Partnerships

Over the years, MDO has established strong partnerships with national and international organizations. Notable partners include Social Welfare & Bait-ul-Mal, European Union (EU), Concern Worldwide, BMZ, WHH, Lodhran Pilot Project (LPP), UNICEF, British Council, WaterAid, Sanjh Pareet Organization, and Association for Research and Implementation (ARI), along with several other NGOs.

Our Professional Team

MDO is led by a diverse and dynamic team of professionals with expertise in social sciences, public health, education, technology, and project management. The team has strong capabilities in proposal writing, program planning and implementation, monitoring & evaluation, research, and community mobilization.

Geographic Reach

While its main operations are centered in Bahawalpur, MDO also works in underserved and remote areas across Pakistan to ensure inclusive and equitable development.
