Kindness for Humanity in Action
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) is committed to improving the quality of life for vulnerable and underserved communities through practical, community-led development initiatives. Our work spans clean water and sanitation, education and skills development, health services, and humanitarian support—addressing both immediate needs and long-term challenges.
Guided by our core value of Kindness for Humanity, MDO works closely with communities, government institutions, donors, and volunteers to deliver sustainable solutions that promote dignity, inclusion, and resilience. By strengthening local capacity and fostering shared responsibility, we aim to create lasting impact and meaningful opportunities for individuals and families across Pakistan.
Mashal Science Academy
Mashal Science Academy provides free or affordable science education, mentorship, and learning resources to underprivileged children. With donor support, we also offer free stationery and uniforms, helping remove financial barriers. Our aim is to nurture young minds and build a brighter, more equal future.
Installation of Water Coolers
Mashal Development Organization is installing free water coolers at public places in Bahawalpur—like parks, community centers, and streets—to provide clean, cold drinking water, especially during hot weather. This initiative, supported by generous donors, promotes public health and ensures easy access to safe water for all.
MDO’s Services at BVH Shelter Home
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) manages the Panagah at Bahawal Victoria Hospital, Bahawalpur, providing free shelter, meals, clean water, and sanitation to patient attendants and families in need. With support from donors, MDO ensures a safe, clean, and caring environment, easing the burden on families during medical treatment.
Free Medical Camps
Mashal Development Organization regularly organizes free medical camps in remote areas to support women, children, and the elderly. These include eye camps, children’s health camps, and general medical camps, ensuring access to basic healthcare for underserved communities.
Ramadan and Eid Packages
Mashal Development Organization supports vulnerable families by distributing food rations during Ramadan, Eid gifts on both Eid festivals, and sacrificial meat on Eid-ul-Adha. These initiatives help widows and low-income families celebrate important occasions with dignity and essential support.
MDO’s Engagement on National and International Days
Mashal Development Organization organizes awareness and community events on national and international days in collaboration with government institutions. These activities promote inclusion, solidarity, and social awareness among children, youth, and marginalized groups across communities.
MDO on the Frontlines of Health Emergencies
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) actively supports public health by organizing awareness and prevention campaigns with the District Health Office Bahawalpur. From fighting polio and dengue to promoting safety during COVID‑19, MDO educates communities, spreads accurate information, and encourages preventive measures. These efforts safeguard the health of vulnerable populations, especially in remote and underserved areas.
Empowering Women and Communities Through Sustainable Agriculture and Environmental Awareness
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) regularly conducts informative and skill‑building sessions at its Head Office for staff and community members, while also participating in external workshops on kitchen gardening, sustainable agriculture, and tree plantation. Held on special occasions, these initiatives raise awareness, enhance capacity, and promote eco‑friendly practices within the community.
Empowering Marginalized Women with Skills, Tools, and Opportunities
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) has established a Technical Training Center under the project “Ba‑Hunar, Ba‑Ikhtiyar Khawateen” to empower women and girls from deserving families through free six‑month courses. MDO provides all materials, sewing machines, and practical training, awarding graduates a certified diploma, a sewing machine, and a starter toolkit. The organization also facilitates market linkages and job opportunities, enabling women to earn a sustainable livelihood and support their families.
Youth Empowerment for Climate-Resilient WASH Under the Pakistan Youth Led Initiative (PYLI)
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) organized 8‑day training on Pakistan Youth Led Initiative (PYLI) and Climate‑Resilient WASH, engaging 35 boys and 35 girls in separate 4‑day sessions led by MDO President Muhammad Jamshaid as Master Trainer. Participants created practical models on water conservation, waste management, tree plantation, and eco‑friendly systems, receiving certificates upon completion. Supported by FDO, British Council, and Water Aid, this initiative effectively empowered youth for climate action at the community level.
Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness Training for MDO Staff
Mashal Development Organization (MDO), in collaboration with Rescue 1122 Bahawalpur, conducted a one-day Emergency Response training session for its staff at the MDO Head Office. The session focused on enhancing the team’s capacity in disaster preparedness, first aid, fire safety, and evacuation through practical demonstrations and expert guidance, significantly strengthening MDO’s emergency response capabilities.
Raising Awareness Against Smoking: MDO’s Commitment to Healthier Lifestyles
Mashal Development Organization (MDO), in collaboration with Alternative Research Initiative (ARI), actively conducts anti-smoking campaigns to raise awareness—especially among youth—about the dangers of tobacco use. These efforts reflect MDO’s strong commitment to promoting public health and smoke-free communities at the grassroots level.
Inclusive Skill Development for Youth Empowerment in Partnership with BMZ, WHH, and LPP
Mashal Development Organization (MDO), in partnership with BMZ, Welthunger Hilfe (WHH), and LPP, implemented a project to strengthen the socio-economic resilience of 1,334 marginalized youth in Bahawalpur Division through free technical training, stipends, certificates, and toolkits. MDO also led community engagement, conducted awareness sessions, and facilitated learning visits to enhance program quality, ultimately empowering youth with skills and self-reliance.
Blood Donation Drives for Thalassemia Children in Partnership with RBC
Mashal Development Organization (MDO), in collaboration with the Regional Blood Centre (RBC), regularly organizes blood donation camps to support children with Thalassemia. These camps promote community awareness and ensure a safe, consistent blood supply for patients in need.
Organizational Capacity Building Under the CSOs BRIDGE Programme
All staff and members of Mashal Development Organization (MDO) have been professionally trained under the EU-funded ‘CSOs BRIDGE Programme’ in partnership with Concern Worldwide, WHH, and LPP. As a result, they are now well-equipped with the skills and commitment needed to effectively serve marginalized communities.
Union Council Development Planning for Climate-Resilient WASH Solutions
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) successfully implemented the EU-funded ‘CRIS-WASH’ project in UC No. 9, Tibba Miani, Bahawalpur, in partnership with Concern Worldwide and LPP. Through active stakeholder engagement, MDO developed a Union Council Development Plan, promoting inclusive and community-led development.
Empowering Communities Through Village WASH Committees Under the CRIS-WASH Project
Under the EU and Concern Worldwide-funded CRIS-WASH project, Mashal Development Organization (MDO) established a Village WASH Committee (VWC) to enhance community engagement, health awareness, and local ownership. MDO conducted regular trainings and exposure visits to build the VWC’s capacity, ensuring long-term sustainability and community-led management of WASH facilities.
Post-Pandemic Health and Safety Training for Community Preparedness
Mashal Development Organization (MDO), with support from LPP, EU, Concern Worldwide, and WHH, conducted a one-day training on post-pandemic SOPs to promote community health and safety. The session enhanced participants’ knowledge and preparedness, reflecting MDO’s continued commitment to public health and resilience.
Community Score Card Activity for Strengthening Accountability in WASH Services
Under the CRIS-WASH project, Mashal Development Organization (MDO) conducted a Community Score Card activity with local residents and public officials to enhance dialogue, identify WASH-related issues, and improve service delivery. The activity saw active participation and fostered collaborative problem-solving.
Rehabilitation of Community and School Filtration Plants Under the CRIS-WASH Project
Under the EU-funded CRIS-WASH Project, Mashal Development Organization (MDO) rehabilitated two non-functional filtration plants in UC No. 9, Tibba Miani—one serving 300 households and the other at Government Girls High School, benefiting 2,200 students. MDO also provided maintenance toolkits to ensure sustainability, significantly enhancing access to clean drinking water and improving community health and hygiene.
MDO’s Interactive Health & Hygiene Awareness Campaign via Street Theatre
Mashal Development Organization (MDO) conducted a community awareness campaign on health and hygiene through professionally performed street theatre, using an MDO-approved script tailored for local audiences.
